Crystal Cruise - Much to My Happy Surprise!
October 15, 2004
Recently, I returned from a cruise on Crystal’s magnificent ship Crystal Harmony as a representative of Crystal’s -Walk on Water Program - WOW. After a few days on board, I was certain, with all the delicious and abundance of tasty delights, I would gain quite a few pounds. Shortly before the end of the cruise, while talking with the fitness director/trainer Andrew in the ships well equipped and inviting exercise facility, I hesitantly stepped on a scale.
"This scale can’t be correct, can it?" I asked.
"It certainly is," replied Andrew.
Much to my delight and surprise I had lost seven pounds. What could I attribute this to? It certainly wasn’t that I hadn’t indulged. How could you not with Crystal’s world renowned reputation for excellence in food and service? Yes, I eagerly indulged in beautifully presented and always delicious appetizers, salads, entrées, and never missed a dessert. From the ever wonderful never ending fruit bowl in our cabin, breakfast in the Lido, snacks in the Bistro, delicious cookies in the afternoon poolside, high tea and music in the Palm Court, four course and more dinners in the Crystal dining room, Kyoto, or Prego, I gladly indulged, spoiled and pampered myself.
Debbie Rocker’s Walkvest brought me on board. Along with three other women, we were in training to represent Walkvest on future Crystal cruises. When not cruising I am a certified personal trainer specializing in “older” women, teach exercise classes, and write a general fitness/health column for a weekly newspaper in the Santa Barbara, California area. My book, Life Begins@Sixty – living longer, stronger lives, has just been released.
I exercise and workout quite a bit. Even so wearing the Walkvest daily, sometimes twice a day, made the difference. Though I had worn the vest before coming on board, this was the first time I wore the vest on a consistent basis, and there was time for me to fine-tune the way the vest fit.
Note: This is important, wearing the right size, wearing it tight against my body—by pulling the straps to keep the weights from moving around when I walked. I was even running for short distances while wearing the vest. Adding extra resistance by inserting weighted bars evenly in the vests weight pockets, added extra resistance, supports your back, and encourages you to hold your tummy in. I had to work harder and thus burned more calories.
Added to the weight loss and prior to coming on board, for the past month or so, I was having a slight sciatica problem, nothing to dramatic, but definitely a bother. I noticed that after ten days of the cruise and even now, I am free of discomfort.
No, it can not medically prove all this, but I can say " I opt for the Walkvest any time and speaking of cruising and cruise ships, I definitely opt for The Crystal Cruise Line! Thank you Crystal, it was a wonderful experience. Everyone from guests to crew was so welcoming and friendly—can’t wait till I join you again.
